Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to the Beehive Montessori School.

My name is Bronwyn Hope and I have the honour of leading an amazing team of educators in delivering authentic Montessori education to students from 18 months to 15 years.

I have a long and happy history as a member of the Beehive community, which started when I was three, as a student here. I have worked at Beehive for nearly twenty years now, and am also a parent at the school. This is a wonderful community to be a part of and I hope you get a sense of this as you explore our website.

I believe that education is a lifelong process of self-discovery and that learning should be a joyful experience. My experiences both as a Montessori student, and as a teacher in Montessori and non- Montessori classrooms, have led me to believe that Montessori is the most effective and successful model of education available today to meet this end. While many psychologists have studied children and devised theories about their development, very few went a step further as Dr Montessori did, who envisaged a curriculum which met these needs in a classroom setting. Montessori revolutionised the concept of education, by devising a system which put the student at the centre of learning, as opposed to the historical industrial model of education which focused on the role of the teacher.

Education in a Montessori sense, relates to a much greater vision for the child than simply learning to read and write. Our aim is to nurture independence in our students so that they find their place in, and contribute to a better world.
