Reconciliation Action Plan

Beehive is proud to be one of only a few schools to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan! This is now included on the Reconciliation Australia website, and available to view here:

NAIDOC Celebrations @ The Beehive Montessori School

On 4th July 2014, the Beehive community celebrated NAIDOC week with a wonderful ceremony and sausage sizzle! We were thrilled to have Nyungar Elder Marie Taylor perform a Welcome to Country and a fabulous dance performance by the Moorditj Mob (a group of Indigenous boys from Wesley College).  The Hon Melissa Parke MP (Member for Fremantle, WA) also attended to support our NAIDOC celebrations.

After speeches from Ms Roni Forrest, Coordinator of the Future Footprints Program at AISWA, and Mr Ron Norris, Mayor of Mosman Park, our own La Casa della Gioia recited ‘A Song of Hope’ by Oodgeroo, and Angelina Boladeras (one of our Year 9 students) recited a poem she wrote for and performed at the Sorry Day Event in Perth earlier this year.

The celebrations concluded with a kangaroo sausage sizzle with quandong chutney for all the students, invited guests and parents.  The RAP committee would like to thank all those who attended and made the day such a success, and especially to all the helpers on the day!
