Dr Maria Montessori was born on 31 August 1870, and every year we at Beehive celebrate her birthday and recognise the wonderful contribution she has made to education in general and to all the Montessori schools around the world.

This year, we will celebrate on Friday 27th August by dressing up in Italian costume or the colours of the Italian flag (red, green and white); and bringing in any souvenirs, music, ornaments etc from Italy to decorate the class for the day!

Each class also enjoys an Italian feast, so we ask children to bring a small plate (enough for 5 or 6 children) of Italian food for children to share GIRLS please bring a savoury plate and BOYS a sweet plate.

After lunch there will be Italian singing and dancing in our beautiful piazza, followed by a gelato for each student from a traditional gelato cart!
