Parent Information Session
Parenting in a digital age can be complex and challenging. As the trusted adults in our children’s lives, we can support them to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks. Kaylene Kerr from eSafeKids will present two parent education sessions and two related incursions at Beehive in Term 4. We encourage you to attend both of these informative parent information evenings to get comprehensive and evidence-based information and suggested resources. Let’s Talk about Pornography- Wednesday 1^st November 6.30-9.00pm
This workshop has been developed to support parents and carers to talk in age and developmentally appropriate ways with their child about pornography. Topics include an overview of pornography in the digital age, the effect of pornography on the developing body, brain and behaviour, and what to do if your child is exposed to pornography. Our year 8 and 9 students will take part in a secondary student workshop the same day and will explore and develop students’ understanding of the nature of sexualised media and its influence on young people’s developing attitudes, expectations and behaviours. Critical media literacy is woven throughout this session.
